Twitter Introduces Conversational Ads

twitter adsIn general people seem to dislike most ads, which is why tools like ad blockers exist. However some have suggested that maybe we don’t need ad blockers if advertisers can create ads that we might actually be interested in seeing, or delivering them in a different way than how they are being delivered right now.

Turns out that Twitter might be looking to try something as they have announced conversational ads. Basically the idea of conversational ads is allowing users to tweak how ads are displayed by offering call to action buttons. For example right now most ads you click on just take you to the product page.

However as you can see in the screenshots above, conversational ads lets users share the ad and add their own message. So maybe you want your friend to check out a new car, you can retweet the ad but add your own spin on it so that it seems less spammy. Upon sharing the ad, users will even receive a thank you message from the brand/company, making it feel more interactive.

Now we’re not sure how effective this is or how well it will be received, but Twitter claims that from its beta testing, its advertisers have reported back with positive feedback, but what do you guys think? Are conversational ads the next thing in online advertising?
