nintendo-logoMany are curious as to what the Nintendo NX will be about. The company has confirmed the device’s existence and last we heard, it could be announced at E3 2016 and maybe launched shortly after as well. However as to what kind of features it might have, what kind of games we can expect, and what it looks like is still a mystery.

However according to a post on NeoGAF (via Attack of the Fanboy) by Ori and the Blind Forest’s developer Thomas Mahler, he seems to have suggested that the Nintendo NX might not have any third-party support at console’s launch. Mahler was saying how Nintendo and other hardware manufacturers are holding their dev kits too closely to their chests, making it hard for developers to create titles for it.

He goes on to point out that as far as Nintendo is concerned, they do not have any devkits out yet. “With Nintendo not having any devkits out there at this point and probably even wanting to sell it in 2016, I can already guarantee that they’ll just not have any software support, since nobody can just jumble games together in less than a year. I mean, you can, but it’ll be garbage.”

Based on that, it would seem to indicate that third-party titles might not be available for the Nintendo NX during its launch. Assuming that this is true, it means that at launch, we are probably looking at a lot of first or second-party titles, which we suppose given Nintendo’s history and various franchises might not necessarily be a bad thing, but in any case do take it with a grain of salt for now.
