Star Wars: Episode VIII Is Now Being Filmed

Many Star Wars fans haven’t quite had enough of Episode VII yet but nevertheless, they will be delighted to find out that the sequel is now officially being filmed. It has been confirmed today that Star Wars: Episode VIII is now being filmed. It’s going to take a lot of time for this movie to be ready, though, the release is about a year away.

This was confirmed by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger during a conference call with investors. He mentioned on the call that Rian Johnson, the director, has started principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London, that’s the same studio where The Force Awakens was shot.

Principal photography was actually supposed to start last month but it was delayed to February for reasons not made public. It has already been confirmed that the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII has been delayed by as much as seven months.

Iger also provided an update on the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, he said that production on this film is almost complete and that it’s going to arrive later this year. Rogue One revolves around a group of Rebel fighters who make a daring attempt to steal plans to the Death Star. It’s rumored that Darth Vader might make an appearance in Rogue One.
