HTC is running a new promotion today that’s going to appeal to you if you’re in the market for a new smartphone but wouldn’t mind getting a tablet for free as well. For today only the company is providing a free Nexus 9 tablet, a $399 value, with each purchase of the HTC One M9. The handset itself costs $649.

It’s a great way for the company to move inventory of its existing flagship handset before the successor comes out. HTC is expected to hold an event this month or in early April to unveil the HTC 10. The new flagship smartphone is expected to be a bit different from the HTC One M9.

Customers can purchase the unlocked, developer or carrier-locked edition of HTC One M9 directly from the company in silver, gold and pink colors. The company is offering the free Nexus 9 tablet in black color only so you’re out of luck if you’d like the tablet to be in another color.

The Nexus 9 has an 8.9 inch 2560×1600 pixel resolution display, an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor under the hood with 2GB RAM. Aside from a pair of front-facing stereo speakers the tablet also features a 6,700mAh battery. This promotion is only available to customers in the United States and is valid for one day only while supplies last. It ends at 11:59 pm PT later today.
