amazon echo

Amazon Echo has proven to be a surprise hit for the company so much so that Amazon has now come out with a whole new lineup of Echo devices. Over the past few months the company has gradually added more functionality to Alexa, the virtual private assistant that lives inside the Echo, and now it has finally got bank support as well. Capital One is the first financial institution to support Amazon Echo.

Support isn’t just limited to the original Amazon Echo device. Capital One support will also be available to users who access Alexa using the Fire TV and also the recently announced Echo Dot speaker.

The Capital One “skill” can now be added via the Amazon Alexa app. Users will then need to punch in their account information before they’re able to ask Alexa questions related to their Capital One account.

Users can ask the device to go over recent transactions on their Capital One checking out, their Quicksilver card balance, ask Alexa to see when their credit card payment is due and even ask Alexa to pay their credit card bill.

The bank promises that users’ Capital One account information remains encrypted and that even Amazon won’t be able to access it. Moreover, whenever users ask Alexa to do a task related to their account, they will first be prompted for a PIN before Alexa completes that task.
