Ser Loras TyrellLast month we reported that according to the rumors, it was suggested that Netflix’s Iron Fist TV series had found its lead actor in Finn Jones. However this has never been confirmed, at least until now where Marvel has since come forward with an official press release in which they are officially confirming the casting of the actor.

Jones will be playing the lead character, Iron Fist who is also known as Danny Rand when he is not donning his costume and fighting crime. According to Executive Producer and showrunner, Scott Buck, “Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means. Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.”

The show’s Executive Producer/Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb adds, “Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world.” For those wondering why Jones looks so familiar, it is because he is currently playing the role of Ser Loras Tyrell in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Unfortunately there is no release date given for Netflix’s Iron Fist, but given that every year we see a new series that is part of the Defenders lineup, with 2015 seeing Daredevil and Jessica Jones launched, and this year with Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage in the later part of the year, there’s a good chance Iron Fist will make its debut in 2017.
