chevy-malibuChevrolet has long been an American household name where cars are concerned, and back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Chevy Malibu was one of the faces of teen rebellion. Well, if we were to fast forward to today, the 2016 model of the Chevy Malibu is a whole lot more technologically advanced, and it will be more of a family sedan than a muscle car, but the four wheels will still get you to your intended destination. And safely, too, as General Motors has introduced the new Teen Driver setting.

Once Teen Driver is enabled, this particular feature within the infotainment system of the dash will provide ample warning to teen drivers should they exceed a predetermined speed limit. When that happens, the stereo will be shut off until everyone buckles up, and all safety features such as traction control will kick in, not to mention churning out a report card for the entire trip.

Of course, having a preset speed limit does not mean that the driver won’t follow rules in places such as school zones that have a far lower speed limit. Still, this can be a deterrent, since it allows parents to check out the results from the report card and come to an agreement as to whether their young ‘un is worthy of the car keys in the future.
