This is turning out to be a great year for superhero movies. The year started off high with Deadpool that raked in the biggest opening ever for an R-rated movie. Batman v Superman is up next and its advance tickets sales are already said to be higher than that of Deadpool. Our favorite mutants are back on the big screen this year and to remind us all of that fact 20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, “Let’s go to war” it says.

The trailer marks the first time that we see the entire X-Men band together again following the events of 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past which not only wiped the slate clean but also rebooted the timeline.

The mutants are faced with the imminent threat of death and destruction as they try and take on a godlike mutant known as Apocalypse. Leading the good guys is Professor X, played by James McAvoy, aided by the young Jean Grey and Cyclops. Michael Fassbender’s Magneto is listed as one of the Four Horsemen that are by Apocalypse’s side.

X-Men: Apocalypse will prove to be a turning point for this franchise as this is going to be the last X-Men film for Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine though a solo Wolverine movie will truly cap his run as my favorite mutant.

It also introduces new versions of characters like Jean Grey and Cyclops that have appeared in previous films, played by other actors. X-Men: Apocalypse will open on May 27th, 2016.
