hearthstone whispers of the old godsLast month Blizzard announced the latest expansion to the Hearthstone franchise in the form of Whispers of the Old Gods. For those unfamiliar, the Old Gods is a reference to the ancient deities that used to rule the world of Azeroth in the Warcraft franchise from back in the day. World of Warcraft gamers might recall fighting at least one of them, C’Thun, in a raid back in the day.

That being said when Blizzard announced the expansion, they noted that it would most likely be seeing a release in late April or early May. The good news is that gamers won’t need to wait until next month because Blizzard has since confirmed that the upcoming expansion will be seeing a release on the 26th of April.

According to Blizzard, “Whispers of the Old Gods introduces 134 brand new, totally not corrupt cards that are sure to change your perception of the game… and the tavern… and possibly a lot of other things. The Old Gods are benevolent (we cannot stress that enough) entities of supreme power who have come to show everyone just how much fun everything can be when you relax, and stop worrying so much!”

The game is currently available for pre-purchase where $50 will nab you a 50-pack bundle, which is obviously cheaper than if you were to buy them one by one. However Blizzard notes that this discount will no longer be applied once the game has been released, so you have about a week to make your decision.
