The Assassin’s Creed movie is set for a release later this year. Ubisoft claims that the movie is “extremely promising”, so much so there are rumors that a sequel has already been greenlit even though the movie hasn’t been released or seen by anyone (other than movie studio execs and other VIPs).

Now we have to admit that we are skeptical when it comes to movies made based on video games because we all know how those usually turn out, but in the meantime you might be interested to learn that the first trailer for the Assassin’s Creed movie has been released, and from what we can see, it actually looks very promising.

The movie will star Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, with the former playing the lead role. The movie seems to have drawn inspiration from the early Assassin’s Creed titles in which there is a mixture of both futuristic technology as well as the ability to “time travel” back into historical times.

Despite the dichotomy in eras, the trailer seems to make it work, although we suppose how the actual movie will be like is anyone’s guess at the moment. In any case the movie will be released on the 21st of December, so fans of the franchise will have to sate their curiosity and appetite with the trailer in the meantime.
