[Computex 2016] It looks like the folks over at MediaTek have decided to show off their most recent battery charging technology, calling it the Pump Express 3.0 over at Computex 2016 that is currently happening in Taiwan. This is touted to be a brand new fast charging method which we can all live with – as it claims to be able to juice up your smartphone’s battery from being dead to a whopping 70% in a matter of merely 20 minutes, now how about that?

If you are really in a rush and do not need data connectivity but have a very important and long conversation to attend to, then fret not – all that is required would be a mere 5 minutes of charging, and you will end up with an entire hour’s worth of talk time to boot. The company cites that this latest charging technology will boast of higher charging speeds in addition to efficiency, which translates to lower phone temperatures when it is being charged.

This means there would be a far lower risk of a fire breaking out too, which should come as a relief for those of us carrying our phones so close to the family jewels. Expect this new charging tech to debut on the MediaTek Helio P20 platform which will arrive later this year via its late 2016 devices. [Press Release]
