Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Projector 5, expanding its lineup of budget-friendly home theater devices. Designed for users seeking an affordable smart projector that maximizes space, the new entry-level model combines Full HD resolution, automated image adjustments, and smart home integration.
One of the standout features of the Redmi Projector 5 is its integrated metallic base, which offers 360-degree tilt adjustment. This mechanism allows users to project content onto walls or ceilings without needing an external mounting bracket. The unit sports a textured white finish and a sealed optical engine engineered to prevent internal dust accumulation. Additionally, the display includes SGS certification for low blue light emission to minimize eye strain during long viewing sessions.
In terms of visual specs, the device delivers a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, a brightness rating of 400 CVIA lumens, and a 1.2:1 throw ratio. Depending on placement distance, it can project display sizes up to 120 inches. An onboard ToF laser sensor handles autofocus and automatic keystone correction, enabling rapid image re-framing even during side projection at angles up to 20 degrees.
Underneath the chassis, the system is powered by a MediaTek MT9 series processor, complemented by 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Navigation is handled via a Bluetooth remote control featuring voice commands for searching content and managing media playback.
Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, wireless screen mirroring for smartphones and computers, alongside ports for external hardware. Through Xiaomi HyperConnect integration, the device can execute automated smart home routines, interacting seamlessly with connected appliances such as smart lighting and automated curtains.
The Redmi Projector 5 is available in China via Xiaomi Youpin and JD.com for 999 yuan ($140 USD). Xiaomi has not yet confirmed an official international release date for other global markets.
