Major iTunes Overhaul Rumored For WWDC 2016

itunes on macbookApple’s iTunes software has evolved over the years and naturally so as Apple comes up with new products and services in which iTunes kind of acts as a hub for it. For example you can manage your iOS devices from iTunes. You can buy and download music from iTunes. You can stream music from iTunes, and let’s not forget all the apps that you can access from iTunes as well.

This has led to the software being a bit bloated and understandably complicated for use, and if you were hoping that Apple would get around to fixing it, your wish could come true. According to a report from Digital Music News, they have learnt from their sources that a major iTunes overhaul is expected to be announced at WWDC next week.

According to the report, “Addressing widespread complaints of ‘bloatware’ and a nightmarishly complicated interface, Apple is hoping to vastly simplify a sprawling iTunes, including an iTunes Store stuffed with apps, movies, TV shows, music downloads, podcasts, and now, streaming service Apple Music.”

This seems to be related to an earlier rumor which hinted that Apple Music could also be seeing a huge revamp, as one of the music platform’s main criticisms would be how slow it is to play songs sometimes, and how unfriendly its user interface is. Take it all with a grain of salt, but if Apple is hoping to maintain and grow its 10 million Apple Music subscribers, something definitely needs to be done.
