HTC ‘Marlin’ Nexus Specs Leaked

nexus-9-review-5Thanks to leaked specs the other day, we got an idea of what to expect from the rumored HTC “Sailfish” Nexus. Now if you were wondering why are the specs of a Nexus handset is so low, it is because the Sailfish is apparently one of two Nexus handsets that HTC will be building for Google later this year.

Now thanks to the folks at Android Police, they have managed to get their hands on the specs for the other HTC Nexus handset which is codenamed “Marlin”. This is obviously going to be the flagship Nexus, like how the Nexus 6P was the higher-end Nexus from last year’s devices, and as such will come with high-end specs.

This includes a 5.5-inch QHD display, a 12MP rear-facing camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4GB of RAM, a 3,450mAh battery, and will come with USB-C. Interestingly enough there was no mention of its processor save for the fact that it will be a quad-core processor from Qualcomm.

It is possible that we are looking at the Snapdragon 820, but with the phone launching later in the year, it is also likely that we could be looking at a revised version of the Snapdragon 820, like the 823 for example. Now obviously with these two different specs, HTC is aiming at two different markets, although considering that the Nexus 5X wasn’t exactly what you’d call a hit, we have to wonder if the “Sailfish” will fare any better.
