ios 10 water damageHow do you tell if your iPhone or iPad has suffered from water damage? One of the ways is that it won’t work anymore. Secondly, when plugging into it the port will not recognize the cable or peripheral. Thirdly and probably a more accurate way of telling is by looking inside the port where there should be an indicator that changes color when wet.

For those who aren’t so tech savvy, don’t worry as Apple has thought of you guys. It seems that according to reports of users who downloaded the iOS 10 beta, iOS 10 will now be able to warn users via a notification if their device has suffered from water damage, as you can see in the image above in which a warning message will appear.

The idea is that when the phone detects liquid, it will warn users about it and advises them to remove any connected accessories right away. This should hopefully give users more time to dry their phones, the port, and their accessories before the damage becomes irreversible and you’d have to make a trip back to the Apple store.

So far it seems that this feature is only limited to Apple’s newer handsets like the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and the SE, although we’re not sure why it cannot be applied to older handsets and tablets as well.
