Pokemon Go has been out for less than a week and it’s already a global phenomenon. In case you’re not aware, this new mobile game sends players out in the real world to try and catch Pokemon. All sorts of news are now coming in, with one player even discovering a dead body while on the hunt for a Pokemon, while several players in O’Fallon, Missouri have become victims of armed robberies due to Pokemon Go.

Police officers in O’Fallon, Missouri posted a statement on the department’s Facebook page that there have been several armed robberies that have specifically targeted Pokemon Go players. The suspects are said to be locating their targets through the game.

The police was alerted to an armed robbery at an intersection at 2 a.m. on Sunday, and they have now connected the suspects to a series of armed robberies and concluded that they have been using Pokemon Go to locate targets since it’s possible to add a beacon to a pokestop to lure more players to that location.

It goes without saying that many more will try to use the same method to lure people in a bid to rob them of their valuables, that’s a real concern here, so if you or someone you know is playing Pokemon Go it would be best to exercise caution, particularly if you’re going to someplace at 2 a.m. in the night.
