Many die hard Star Wars fans can’t imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford portraying our favorite galactic smuggler but a standalone film focused on Solo is being produced and Ford certainly can’t play a younger version of the smuggler so a new actor has to be cast. It has finally been confirmed today who is going to play the young Han Solo in the upcoming movie.
Previous reports suggest that actor Alden Ehrenreich was involved in final negotiations with the studio to portray a young Han Solo in the new movie. The casting was one of the several announcements made today at Stars Wars Celebration.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of this upcoming movie, revealed during a panel that they auditioned more than 3,000 actors for this crucial role and finally landed on Alden Ehrenreich as their pick for Solo.
Ehrenreich was literally the first actor that the directors auditioned for this role and he was not their final choice. He was asked to screen test several times, even alongside Chewbacca, before the decision was made.
Now that the directors have cast the crucial role they can get working on the other important aspects of this movie. It will be some time before this movie is ready for release but at least now we know who is going to play the young Han Solo in the movie.
