ps4So we know that the Sony PS4 “Neo” is real. However what it could look like, what kind of specs it is packing under the hood, or any other features is really anyone’s guess at the moment. Sure we’ve heard the rumors, but it ain’t official till it is official. So the question is, when will the console make it official debut?

Turns out next month could be a possibility. According to French gaming website Gameblog.fr (via Attack of the Fanboy), it seems they have heard that the console could be unveiled next month in New York on the 7th of September. They write (translated), “While all indications pointed to an announcement of the PS4 NEO at the Tokyo Game Show in September, our sources tell us an announcement on 7 September in New York.”

An announcement during the Tokyo Game Show certainly would make sense, and not mention a pretty good platform for an announcement as well considering what will be shown off, but for Sony to create a separate event for their new console would make sense as well, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled.

In the meantime gamers who already bought the PS4, you guys can relax because Sony does not intend for the Neo to replace the current console. The company did state back in June that the Neo will not shorten the PS4’s lifecycle. While it has yet to be confirmed, we heard that Sony is making it so that developers have to ensure that games can be played on either console, so unless you really need the higher resolution and extra power, we reckon you should be fine.
