Rogue drones can be a problem, not only because they can sometimes get in the way of search and rescue, but they can also pose a threat. Depending on where you are from, there might be different laws to deal with rogue drones, for example in Japan nets are used to bring down rogue drones.

Earlier this year, we also reported that in the Netherlands, Dutch police have been training eagles to take down drones, and it looks like the system is in effect. As you can see in the video above, it shows a scenario in which a VIP is being escorted to a meeting, but upon arrival an enemy drone has been detected, after which an eagle is released into the sky where it takes out the drone.

As you can clearly see, the eagles are pretty efficient at taking out drones. In fact last year footage emerged where an eagle in the wild took out a drone when it got a bit too close, demonstrating just how precise and strong a wild eagle can be, so we can only imagine that a trained one would be more efficient.

In the meantime companies like drone maker DJI have included geofencing in its drones, in which there are certain areas that the drone can’t fly into, such as government buildings, airports, and so on.
