iPhone 8 Rumored To Feature Plastic Curved OLED Display From Samsung

There is no love lost between Apple and Samsung, but despite their differences, both companies seem to understand that business is business and still have dealings with each other despite their ongoing legal battles. That being said, that relationship is expected to continue into 2017 with the iPhone 8.

According to a report from the Korea Herald (via 9to5Mac), Apple’s iPhone 8 is expected to feature a plastic, curved OLED display that will be supplied by Samsung. We’re not sure if it is going be curved to the point where we’re looking at a Galaxy S7 Edge-like device, or if we’re simply looking at more rounded edges like the Apple Watch.

Also what’s interesting is the decision to go with plastic. As it stands the current-gen iPhone and Apple Watch feature curved glass displays at the edges of the phone, so unless Apple is opting for a more prominent curve, we’re not sure why they would have switched from glass to plastic. Not to mention this also goes against earlier rumors of an all-glass iPhone  if the display is going to be made from plastic.

Of course you should take this with a grain of salt for now, but so far the rumors regarding the iPhone 8 are a bit mixed. At one point in time it was even suggested that iPhone 8 could simply be a refresh of the iPhone 7, which we’re really hoping is not the case.
