It has long been rumored that the Galaxy S8 is not going to have a home button and that it’s going to rely on on-screen software buttons instead. That seems highly likely now because that’s what we’ve seen in all of the leaked images and renders. Samsung’s own Galaxy S8 teaser hints that much. The question remains, would there be anything special about these on-screen buttons? According to a new report, it’s possible that the Galaxy S8’s buttons might be customizable.

A new report suggests that a fresh leaked photo of the Galaxy S8 shows two different arrangements of the on-screen buttons on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. On one of the models, we can see that the back key is on the left while on the other one it’s evident that the back key is on the right where you’d normally find it on a Samsung smartphone that has capacitive buttons.

This obviously begs the question that whether Samsung will allow Galaxy S8 owners to customize the on-screen buttons? They’re certainly going to be a big change for users and Samsung would want to make it easier for them to cope with this fundamental user experience change. Perhaps that’s one of the ways it’s going to make that happen.

We won’t know for sure, though, until Samsung makes the official announcement. Samsung confirmed a couple of days ago that it’s going to officially launch the Galaxy S8 at a special event in New York and London on March 29th.
