It was first reported a couple of days ago that Samsung is going to ship a controller with the new Gear VR headset that it’s going to launch with the Galaxy S8 this year. The company launches a new headset with its new flagships every year so it’s not hard to imagine that it’s going to do the same this year as well. However, this is the first time that the company would ship a controller with this handset.

Days after the controller was spotted at the FCC we now see that the new Gear VR controller has received its Bluetooth certification. This means that now there’s even more mounting circumstantial evidence to support reports that the new Gear VR is going to come with its very own controller which would be similar to what you get with Google’s Daydream View virtual reality headset.

There aren’t a lot of technical details available about it at this point in time but reports suggest that it’s going to be a one-handed controller which will make it much easier to control apps and play games in virtual reality. Don’t expect this headset to arrive before the Galaxy S8 as it’s highly likely that it will be announced alongside the company’s new flagship smartphone.

Samsung will confirm at MWC 2017 later this month when the Galaxy S8 will be launched. Chances are the launch event for its new flagship will take place at some point in March.
