samsung-pay-miniFor the longest time ever we have been hearing rumors that Samsung could have a new Samsung Pay variant in the works called Samsung Pay Mini. In fact earlier this year references made to Samsung Pay Mini was discovered on Samsung’s very own website. The good news is that the wait is over as Samsung has officially announced it.

However we should point out that the announcement was made by Samsung Korea which has us believing that the feature could be limited to the Korean market for now. For those unfamiliar with Samsung Pay Mini, this is basically a pared down version of Samsung Pay where it is more or less used to facilitate online payments, whereas Samsung Pay can be used to make payments for items purchased in real-life.

The platform was also rumored to be available on both iOS and Android platforms, but last we heard Apple had apparently rejected Samsung’s attempts to launch the app on iOS. We’re not sure if that is true, but according to Samsung’s announcement it seems to be only available on Android (yes, that means non-Samsung handsets are included) devices for now.

Like we said the announcement in Korea seems to suggest that the service will be limited to the Korean market for now, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to roll it out to other markets shortly, which hopefully we’ll learn more about come MWC 2017 later this month.
