Recently there have been rumors that were talking about Google’s upcoming Pixel phones. Just like last year, it is expected that there will be two Pixel phones this year and according to their codenames, they will be known as “muskie” and “walleye”, both of which are named after fishes which is unsurprising given last year’s “marlin” and “sailfish” codenames.

Now according to a new report from Droid-Life, they have learnt that Google could potentially have a third device in the works codenamed “taimen”, which once again is another fish-inspired name. However before you’re wondering if we could see a third Pixel handset this year, you might be disappointed as it would seem that “taimen” will be a device of its own.

Given the size of taimen fishes, it is also believed that this phone could be huge. While it might be easy to assume it could be a tablet, Droid-Life claims that they were told specifically that it was a handset, so don’t go expecting a hybrid or tablet-like device. The specs of the device remain unclear, although we have heard that a budget Android phone by Google is in the works, so we have to wonder if “taimen” might have something to do with that.

A budget Android handset with a big display could be a hit amongst consumers who don’t want to spend too much on a Pixel or other flagship handsets. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out the official details, if and when they arrive.
