Back in October last year, Motorola confirmed a list of devices that would be eligible to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The Moto Z lineup was part of that list that was confirmed, and if you’re wondering where your update is, you’ll be pleased to learn that the update is now being pushed out by Verizon.

The carrier is currently rolling out the Nougat update for the Moto Z Play Droid Edition so if that is the handset you are rocking, then you should be able to expect the update today, or if you don’t get it today, not to worry as you should expect it over the course of the next few days. The Nougat update has actually been pushed out to other Moto Z handsets already, so in reality the Moto Z Play Droid Edition is actually late to the party.

However given that updates for phones locked to carriers tend to take a little longer due to the need for carrier approval, we guess this shouldn’t really be that much of a surprise, but we guess better late than never, right? With this update, we expect that it should have some kind of impact on the Android distribution figures for next month.

As it stands Nougat is sitting at around 2.8% in February, but with OEMs and carriers starting to push out Nougat this month, it should help to boost next month’s figures.
