Nokia launched three new Android-powered smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona last month and it may not be done for the year. According to a new report out of China, it’s claimed that Nokia is going to launch two new flagship smartphones this year which will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor and will also feature a dual-camera system on the back.

You might be aware already that it’s not the Finnish company Nokia that’s made its return to the smartphone market. It’s actually another Finnish company called HMD Global that has licensed Nokia’s brand for use in smartphones that it’s making.

Reports out of China suggest that two new Nokia-branded flagship smartphones are going to be released this year. Both are said to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and may also feature a dual-camera system on the back. If that’s indeed the case, these two handsets will certainly be at par with most flagship smartphones this year, at least as far as the specs are concerned on paper.

The Snapdragon 835 is Qualcomm’s latest chip which will power the Samsung Galaxy S8 and many other flagships this year. There’s no word as yet on what sort of build materials will be used for these flagship smartphones and what additional features and specs we can expect them to have.

It’s unclear when HMD Global is planning to release these two flagships, if it has them in the pipeline at all, but given that the three handsets it announced at MWC 2017 won’t be released until the second quarter, it’s quite likely that we may not see any new product launches from the company until the fall this year.
