iPhone 8 Delay Attributed To Display Production Problems

There have been multiple reports recently which suggest that the iPhone 8 is going to be delayed. The first OLED iPhone from Apple is now expected to arrive at some point next year as opposed to the fall this year. A new report claims that one of the big reasons why Apple won’t be able to come out with the iPhone 8 this year is because of supply issues associated with the flagship’s OLED display panel.

A new report claims that the iPhone 8 is going to face supply shortages which will be significantly more than the normal supply constraints that are faced by new flagship smartphones that are in demand.

Previous reports suggested that it was the low production yield of the fingerprint sensor that was causing the delay but it’s not believed to be the handset’s OLED display panel. The iPhone 8 is believed to be the first smartphone from Apple to feature an OLED display.

Samsung has a virtual monopoly in the small OLED display panel market which is why it’s believed to be the biggest supplier of OLED displays for the next-generation iPhone. The report claims that there might be a delay of up to two months in Samsung’s production of OLED panels for Apple which is going to result in a delayed release.

It goes without saying that none of this has been confirmed at this point in time so take it with a grain of salt for now.
