Apple’s iPhone Xs represents the best that Apple has to offer, but getting your hands on the best will not come cheap, and that’s where the iPhone XR comes in. However the question is, are customers willing to “compromise” to save themselves a few hundred bucks? Turns out that they are.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he claims that pre-orders for the iPhone XR have outpaced its predecessor, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus that was released in 2017. No specific numbers were shared, but apparently they have already managed to outpace last year’s models, so it looks like his initial predictions were correct.

Kuo had previously raised his estimates of the iPhone XR where he predicted that Apple will be able to ship 36-38 million units in the current quarter. He also expects that Apple will be seeing even greater sales in 2019. According to Kuo, the iPhone XR is appealing to “regular” consumers who don’t have an urgent need to replace their current handset, while the iPhone Xs and Xs Max appealed to those who are more tech savvy.

So far it seems that there are some iPhone XR models that have since been sold out. It is unclear if this could be due to a particular color being favored more than others, but it’s still a good sign nonetheless.
