Belkin’s ‘Wemo Bridge’ Brings HomeKit Support

Last year Belkin stated that they had no plans to support HomeKit, but recently the company has had a change of heart where they announced that they will be supporting HomeKit and would soon be unveiling a way in which they can do so with existing Wemo products as opposed to creating a brand new line.

Turns out that Belkin’s solution comes in the form of a device called the Wemo Bridge. As you can see in the image above, this is an attachment that users can hook up to their home’s WiFi router. From there and once connected, users will be able to use their Wemo products together with Apple’s HomeKit platform, and ask it to perform various tasks using Siri.

According to Brian Van Harlingen, chief technology officer at Belkin International, “Wemo is offering this bridge to address the overwhelming request from customers to make currently installed Wemo products work with HomeKit and other HomeKit compatible products. We’re proud to work with Apple to bring together two of the most influential Smart Home platforms.”

Unfortunately pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, but the company does plan on launching it this coming fall, so do keep an eye out for it if this is something you might be interested in.
