Just like how GoPro decided that they wanted to get into the drone business with the GoPro Karma, it seems that DJI now wants to get into the video business by launching its own Smart TV app. This is an app designed for smart TVs that will allow users to watch a bunch of videos captured by drones.

If this sounds familiar, it is because GoPro already has something similar, albeit a bit more general. The company has in the previous years launched its own channel in which viewers will be able to watch videos captured by GoPro cameras, whether they be mounted on helmets, bikes, cars, or drones. DJI’s offering is admittedly slightly more niche, but if you do enjoy watching drone footage then we guess it could be worth checking out.

According to DJI’s Senior Product Manager Paul Pan, “We’ve made flying and capturing aerial footage easy with our drones, and now with the DJI Smart TV App, creators will have more ways to share their work with the world. This is really an opportunity for people to be inspired, intrigued, travel to places they would have never imagined and see the world in a whole new way.”

The DJI Smart TV app is expected to play nicely on smart TV devices such as the Apple TV and Samsung’s Tizen-based TVs. The app should already be live so head on over to the respective app stores for the download.
