When it comes to leaked information like photos and specs for Apple’s iPhones, the company is notorious for being extremely secretive. This is versus other companies who might drop clues or even confirm their plans ahead of the launch. Now if you’re wondering how Apple keeps such a tight lid on things, a report from Business Insider has revealed how.

Speaking to Tech Insider, Dejian Zeng is an NYU grad student who made headlines not too long ago after it was revealed that he had spent about 6 months undercover at Pegatron’s factory in China where he worked on the assembly line. According to Zeng, he claims that while he was working on the iPhone 6s, the factory was already building up facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the assembly line for the iPhone 7, and all of it was blocked by a huge curtain.

He also revealed, “We have a locker room. That’s where workers changed their clothes, put their phones, their keys, all their metals. We need to swipe our card, and they have facial recognition. After you get in, you wait in line to go through a metal detector.” He also adds that due to the increased sensitivity of the metal detector, he doesn’t think that anyone could have smuggled in a camera.

Zeng also stated that even managers who were allowed to keep their phones on their person had to prove to security that they weren’t trying to smuggle prototypes or components out of the factory. That being said, iPhone leaks do occur and in the past we have seen how some of these leaks have proven to be true, but regardless the level of security employed is pretty scary.
