The thing about video game remasters is that sometimes it’s a good idea and sometimes it’s a bad one. For example bringing back a classic like Final Fantasy VII is a good idea, but remastering a game for the sake of it or when you’re trying to milk the franchise is typically not such a great idea.

Now if you thought that Microsoft was already releasing too many remasters, like the Anniversary editions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, you might actually be pleased to learn that Microsoft will be taking a break from remasters. This was confirmed by Halo community manager Brian Jarrard who posted on Reddit.

Basically Jarrard was responding to a post on Reddit about a possible Halo 3 Anniversary Edition, in which he wrote, “OMG stop. There is no Halo 3 Anniversary.” That’s as definitive as it gets so it’s not as if Jarrard was teasing that there might be one or that the door is open to one, so if you were hoping for a Halo 3 Anniversary title, you might be disappointed.

That being said, Jarrard has also confirmed that Microsoft will not be showing off Halo 6 at E3 2017 this year. Instead Microsoft will have a little something to reveal for a different project, so Halo 6 hopefuls will just have to wait for another time.
