Ubisoft has captured the interest of Far Cry fans today by posting something on its Facebook page. The post includes a picture of the Rook Island from Far Cry 3 with the caption “an island we never really left.” It’s evident that Ubisoft is teasing a new Far Cry announcement but it’s not known for sure right now precisely what it is that Ubisoft is teasing. Is it an expansion for Far Cry 3 or a new game altogether?

Since Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed anything about this so far, the field is open to speculation. It could just be a crafty social media post from Ubisoft and may not mean anything. It can also be a remastered version of Far Cry.

It may also be a teaser for a completely new Far Cry game that’s new in every way but is set on Rook Island. Ubisoft might just be looking at the interest of fans in response to this teaser before it decides to come up with a way to pander to it.

Could it be a remastered version? It would make sense as Far Cry 3 was released in 2012 by Ubisoft Montreal. There’s nothing stopping Ubisoft from cashing in on what was considered one of the best Far Cry games ever by launching a remastered version.

It’s too soon to draw a conclusion at this point in time, though, so we’ll just have to wait and see when Ubisoft provides us with some clarity on the matter.
