OnePlus has a habit of gradually releasing information about its upcoming devices so as to generate the maximum possible hype for the products before they are ultimately released. Over the past few weeks, the company has confirmed more and more details about the OnePlus 5 and today it has confirmed what sort of processor the upcoming flagship smartphone is going to tout.

OnePlus has confirmed today that the OnePlus 5 is going to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor. It’s not surprising at all since this processor is going to power most of the Android flagship smartphones this year.

The company says that the Snapdragon 835 sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance. The processor also promises enhanced power efficiency which will enable the handset to stretch its battery life even further.

OnePlus has also been working on improving touch latency. The company’s engineers tested by scrolling felt different between phones. They used a special high-speed camera to track screen movements against input speeds.

The result of this testing is that apps will respond quickly to the user’s touch on the OnePlus 5 for a more seamless user experience. Improvements have also been made to the software to make app management better. The apps that users tend to open frequently will be ready to go when the OnePlus 5 is turned on.

Apps used rarely are automatically deprioritized and subsequently, don’t affect the device’s performance. OnePlus is yet to confirm when it’s going to release the OnePlus 5.
