The Girl Scouts organization has announced that it has partnered with Palo Alto Networks to release 18 new cybersecurity badges that members will be able to earn over the next two years. The Girl Scouts badges list is going to add the new cybersecurity badges in the fall next year as the first is going to be released in September 2018.

The Girl Scouts organization and Palo Alto Networks have teamed up to encourage girls to become experts that can handle future cybersecurity challenges. They have teamed up to deliver the first-ever national cybersecurity badges for girls in grades K-12 starting September next year.

“From arming our older girls with the tools to address this reality to helping younger girls protect their identities via Internet safety, the launch of our national Cybersecurity badge initiative represents our advocacy of cyber preparedness―and our partnership with Palo Alto Networks makes a natural fit for our efforts,” said Sylvia Acevedo, CEO of Girl Scouts USA.

A total of 18 badges will be offered to introduce girls across the United States to cybersecurity education. Together, the partners predict that they will be able to provide cybersecurity education to more than one million girls in the United States while also helping them develop their leadership skills.
