It is safe to assume that this year Google will be launching two new Pixel handsets in the form of the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2. As to who will be making these phones remains to be seen, but it has been largely assumed that HTC will be picking up where they left off with the Google Pixels, or will they?

According to a recently spotted bug entry, it seems that there is some evidence to suggest that LG could be the one manufacturing the Google Pixel XL 2, which was referenced in the bug entry as “Taimen” which is in line with what we’ve heard. You might have heard that Google apparently had three devices in the works, but one was reportedly cancelled.

LG has had some experience manufacturing handsets for Google before which resulted in the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5, and the Nexus 5X. It also wouldn’t be the first time that Google uses different companies for different handsets, like they did with the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, the latter of which was made by Huawei.

In any case it’s just a rumor for now so take it with a grain of salt, but assuming Google doesn’t deviate from their plans, we should expect to hear more about the new Pixel handsets in the coming months.
