There have been some rumors and speculation that Nintendo could be bringing Pokemon onto the Nintendo Switch, and this is what many gamers were hoping for when Nintendo teased an announcement. Unfortunately for gamers who are looking forward to Pokemon, you will be disappointed, but hopefully not too much as you will be getting Pokken Tournament DX instead.

For those unfamiliar with Pokken Tournament, it is basically a fighting game that uses characters from the Pokemon universe, where instead of dueling it the normal way you might expect from Pokemon games, the fighting style is more “violent” and dynamic, so if you prefer fighting games like Street Fighter, then Pokken Tournament could be for you.

As expected, Pokken Tournament DX will allow gamers to take advantage of the Switch’s features, such as using one Joy-Con controller to play the game, meaning that two players can play on the same console. There will also be wireless play where gamers can connect to other Switch’s around them, 3v3 team battles, online ranked play, and so on.

The DX version of the game will also feature 5 new Pokemon, which includes Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Decidueye. We’re not sure if there will ever be plans to bring the main Pokemon RPG to the Switch, but for now we guess Pokken Tournament DX will have to do. Pokken Tournament DX will be released on the Nintendo Switch on the 22nd of September.
