Twitter Announces Major Redesign

After refreshing its brand in a significant way last year, Twitter has acted on the feedback it has received from users and introduced an entirely new look for the microblogging service today. The new look has been created with the idea of making Twitter feel lighter, faster, and easier to use. The new changes will be rolled out across Twitter on the web, Twitter for iOS and Android, Twitter Lite, and TweetDeck.

There’s a new side navigation menu which will bring profile, additional accounts, settings, and privacy in one place. This means there will be fewer apps at the bottom of the web. Twitter actually made this change on Android last year and it’s now bringing it over to iOS.

The links to articles and websites will now be opened in Safari’s viewer inside the Twitter apps so that users can easily use the accounts on websites that they are already signed into.

It has also refined typography to make it more consistent. Headlines are bolder so that it’s easier to focus on what’s happening. Rounded profile photos will make the overall look feel cleaner as well.

All tweets will now update instantly with reply, Retweet, and like counts so that users can see conversations as they take place live.

These changes will be rolled out across the aforementioned platforms in the coming days.
