Apart from the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which will be unveiled in August, the next highly-anticipated smartphone that will be hitting the market will be Apple’s iPhone 8. This is doubly exciting because this marks the 10th year of the iPhone, and the rumors are saying Apple could be going all out.

However it seems that Huawei thinks that they will be able to trump Apple in that regard. Speaking to Bloomberg, Huawei’s chief of consumer division Richard Yu stated that he believes that the company’s upcoming Mate 10 will have what it takes to beat the iPhone 8 in terms of design, battery life, and camera features.

According to Yu, “We will have an even more powerful product, The Mate 10, which has much longer battery life with a full-screen display, quicker changing speed, better photographing capability and many other features that will help us compete with Apple.” Unfortunately apart from confirming that the handset does exist, Yu did not reveal what we could expect in terms of specs.

However the Mate 10 has been rumored about for a while now and according to the rumors (which Yu seemed to have confirmed some of them), one of its key features is a bezel-less display. We suppose we’ll have to wait and see if the handset really has what it takes to trump the iPhone 8, although there is a lot more than just hardware specs and features that goes into a consumer’s decision.
