A very serious bug appears to be affecting quite a few OnePlus 5 units. Many users have complained that when they try to call 911 on their handset, it reboots on its own. The potential implications of this bug can be very harmful as the device is essentially preventing people from reaching out to emergency services.

Multiple users have complained about this issue on Reddit where it was first reported by OnePlus 5 user Nick Morelli. He tried calling 911 to report a building fire and instead found that the handset kept rebooting on its own.

Other users have reported that they’re facing a similar problem. Users in the United Kingdom say that they can’t dial 999, their emergency services contact, as the phone reboots instantly.

OnePlus has confirmed that it’s looking into the problem. It has reached out to customers and is looking into the matter. The company calls on users who are affected by this bug to reach out to OnePlus at support@oneplus.net.

This is obviously not ideal and one can only hope that OnePlus figure out quickly what’s wrong here and send out a fix for it. Users should always have the peace of mind that they can reach emergency services on their phone should there ever be a need for it.
