Barack Obama’s Charlottesville Tweet Is The Most Liked Tweet Ever

There tweets that go viral and generate a ton of likes and views, and while we have seen tweets rack up over a million likes in the past, it seems that we have a new record and a new winner from none other than former President Barack Obama, who according to Variety is now the title holder to the tweet with the most likes ever.

The tweet in question was made by Obama following the events in Charlottesville, in which Obama quoted Nelson Mandela by saying, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…” At this time of writing, the tweet has racked up over 3.2 million likes and has since surpassed previous record holders such as Ariana Grande who tweeted out a distraught message following the terrorist attack in Manchester, UK. That particular tweet garnered over 2.7 million likes.

Coming in third place was a tweet by Ellen DeGeneres in which she posted a selfie taken at the Oscars back in 2014 which got over 2.4 million likes. However in terms of retweets, Obama’s latest tweet only comes in fourth at over 1.2 million retweets, and where the current record holder is a teen from Nevada who tried to get 18 million retweets for a free year’s worth of nuggets. While he didn’t manage to hit that number, he is still holding the record at 3.7 million.
