It was reported that Amazon would be holding a surprise press event today in which new devices would be announced. One of the new devices that we saw was the Amazon Echo Spot which seems to combine the Echo Dot and the Echo Show into a small speaker device with a 2.5-inch display.

However if you’re after something a bit more robust, Amazon has you covered as well. Along with the Echo Spot, Amazon also took the wraps off their new Echo and Echo Plus speakers. The Echo speaker has been given a redesign and will now feature a cloth and wood-veneer finish options, and according to Amazon it has been redesigned to feature better acoustics, such as a dedicated bass tweeter.

As for the Echo Plus, this is basically the same Echo speaker as the one we mentioned above, except that it will also support Dolby audio and will act as a smart home hub, which seems to corroborate rumors that Amazon might was working on a HomePod competitor. It will allow users to connect to your various smart appliances and Amazon claims it will work right out of the box.

For those interested, the new Echo speaker will cost $99 while the Echo Plus will retail for $150 and will come bundled with one free Philips Hue bulb.
