Earlier we reported that thanks to a billboard that was erected in Boston, it was hinted that Google would be hosting its Pixel 2 event on the 4th of October. Given that Google had yet to say anything officially at that time, it was unclear if this billboard was the real deal or if we were simply being trolled.

However wonder no more because Google has since confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 4th of October. It is an interesting choice of dates because if you recall, it was on the 4th of October in 2016 that Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL, so we guess Google has chosen to launch the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets exactly one year later.

The company has since launched a new website that hints at the upcoming Pixel 2 launch called “Ask More”. We’re not sure what this is about, but there’s a good chance that Google is hinting that perhaps it has evolved and updated its Google Assistant software to be better than before.

Either way we should have the details next month, so if you are eyeing either the Pixel 2 or the larger Pixel 2 XL, remember to mark down the 4th of October on your calendars and check back with us then for more updates.
