Have you ever gone to a McDonald’s, ordered your food, only to realize that it probably isn’t as fresh as you’d like? Then there are also times when you go to McDonald’s and your fries are hot, your nuggets are crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle, and your Coke tastes on point?

If you’d like to replicate that experience of having a hot and fresh McDonald’s meal every time you go to the fast food outlet, here’s a “hack” worth considering (which could also be great for tax purposes): ask for a receipt. This is according to a post on Quora (via The Sun Online) way back in 2016 by Kamran Adnan who claims to be a former McDonald’s employee.

According to Adnan, everyday between 12pm-2pm and 5pm-7pm (peak hours), “gapbusters” will visit McDonald’s outlets. These gapbusters are basically mystery shoppers paid by McDonald’s to visit their outlets and rate their experience. They will not make themselves known to employees at the outlet, but one defining trademark is that they’ll always ask for a receipt.

“So, if you ask for a receipt in that time everyone will be immediately alert that you could be a potential gapbuster and they’ll make sure to serve you the freshest burger and fries and give you priority over everyone else.” The Sun Online has since reached out to McDonald’s to comment about the “hack” but have yet to hear back from them. We can’t be sure if this applies to every McDonald’s outlet around the world, but hey, if taking a few seconds to ask for a receipt could potentially nab you a hot and fresh order, why not?
