Hyundai’s Blue Link is a feature of its cars that has been around for a while now. The app can do a variety of things, such as remotely unlocking the car, and recently with Alexa integration, it can perform actions using just your voice. Now it seems that the app has been updated with new services, such as on-demand car washing.

For the most part car washing isn’t a particularly complicated thing to do, where you can either opt to do it yourself at home, or send it to a car wash. However we suppose the on-demand service does make it more convenient for users who are too busy. This new feature was unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show where Hyundai announced a collaboration with Washos.

This will be available to Hyundai car owners with the Blue Link package, where subscribers will be able to schedule car washes with Washos who will show up at your home with a cleaning crew. Using Washos’s service will also grant cleaners temporary access to the inside of your car for detailing the interior, which sounds similar to Amazon Key that gives a delivery person temporary access to your home.

According to Manish Mehrotra, director of digital business planning and connected operations for Hyundai Motor America, “This proof of concept will allow us to understand the benefits, requirements and challenges of linking to third party providers. Developing an open Blue Link ecosystem creates a myriad of possible business models for the future.”
