As you might have heard, Google and Amazon can’t seem to see eye-to-eye at the moment, with Google yanking YouTube from the Echo Show and Fire TV. despite it being available just last month. On the flip side it seems that Amazon has decided to play nice by putting the Google Chrome (and Apple TV) back up for sale on its platform.

So what about YouTube? The good news is that according to The Verge, a Google spokesperson has told the publication that both Google and Amazon are currently in “productive discussions” about YouTube, and that they hope that they can come to “an agreement for the benefit of our mutual customers.”

Prior to this, Google’s reason for pulling YouTube was due to a “lack of reciprocity”, where they stated that because Amazon doesn’t carry Google products, they didn’t see the need to return the favor. However like we said, Amazon has recently started to offer the Chromecast, so perhaps this will be a step in the right direction.

As it stands there is no “winner” in this as ultimately customers are the ones who suffer. Exactly when YouTube will return to the Echo Show and Fire TV remains to be seen, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
