If you wanted to share Instagram Stories with a friend, there is an option that lets you send that particular Story to a friend via Direct (Instagram’s in-app messaging feature), assuming that profile isn’t private. However this feature was not applicable to Live Videos, at least until now where Instagram has made some changes.

According to Instagram, “When you’re live, just tap the Direct icon at the bottom of the screen and send your live video to friends. You’ll also have this option when going live with a friend. Once sent, the recipient will see your live video in their Direct inbox. Friends can only view your video if you’re currently live. If your live video is over, your friend will see a message saying the video has ended.”

What this means is that if there is a live video that you are hosting, or if there’s a live video you think your friend might be interested in, you can notify them through Direct. This can be handy as some users might only choose to receive notifications when they get a message, versus being notified when Live Videos are taking place, so this could be useful if you don’t want them to miss out on it.

The update should already be live so head on over to your respective app stores for the download.
