There have been a lot of rumors about a foldable Samsung smartphone but one has yet to materialize. Even though companies like ZTE have already brought this concept to reality, Samsung is yet to launch its foldable smartphone. If a new report is to be believed, the foldable Samsung smartphone may not be released until the end of this year.

Rumors about a foldable Samsung smartphone have been swirling for a few years now. Countless patents have also surfaced which suggest that Samsung has worked on this idea extensively.

The company’s mobile chief Koh Dong-jin also confirmed in September last year that Samsung is going to launch a foldable smartphone in the first half of 2018. No further information was provided about this device at that time but it did reveal that the company has this product in the pipeline and will launch it eventually.

A new report out of South Korea claims that Samsung will not be able to launch this device before December 2018 or even early 2019. That’s because the foldable display panels for this handset are not expected to enter mass production before September 2018. The device itself is expected to be produced at volume in November this year.

It’s claimed that the foldable Samsung smartphone is going to feature a 7.3 inch flexible OLED display, enabling the device to be used as a smartphone or fold-out tablet.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed this new timeframe for its foldable device just yet so take this information with a grain of salt for now.
