Google Assistant landed on the NVIDIA Shield TV last year and its capabilities on this platform have gradually been improved over the past few months. Google Assistant appears to have received more improvements on the Shield TV with NVIDIA highlighting features like the ability to broadcast messages and streaming footage from a security camera for Assistant.

Google Assistant features tend to be inconsistent across various devices so it’s difficult to ascertain if something that’s a new feature on one device hasn’t already been out on another for several months.

NVIDIA mentions that the Google Assistant can be used on Shield TV to broadcast messages. Users can say “OK Google, broadcast that it’s time to watch TV” and it will relay a message to all Google Home and Google Mini devices around the home that “The show’s about to start!.”

The company also says that users can stream footage from their connected security camera on their TV by just saying “Hey Google, show me my front door camera on Shield.” This will instantly bring up their Logitech Circle or Nest camera on the biggest screen in their house.

The Shield TV with Google Assistant is now compatible with various smart home devices from more than 150 brands. This makes life that much easier for those who’ve really adopted the smart home lifestyle.
