It’s safe to say that no one really expected too much when the first John Wick movie was released. After all we have seen plenty of revenge-style movies after the hit that was “Taken”, but yet the movie surprised us all, going on to spawn a second successful movie (and a third in the works), and now it looks like the John Wick franchise will be expanded onto TV.

During the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Starz and Lionsgate jointly announced that John Wick will be coming onto TV as a series known as “The Continental”, named after the hotel that John Wick and other assassins stay at when they’re conducting their business in town.

According to Starz President & CEO Chris Albrech, “This series is truly unlike anything else on TV.” He also promised “thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts,” while also expanding on the John Wick universe through “new darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”

Unfortunately it is unclear if this series will stand by itself or if there will crossovers into the movies, especially in the upcoming John Wick 3 which is slated for 2019. It is also unclear who will be starring in the series, but hopefully Keanu Reeves will make a guest appearance as the legendary hitman.
